Island peak (6189m) also known by “Imja Tse” is the famous short peak climbing in the Everest region. This peak is the remarkable and wonderful destination for climb lovers by past 5 years. The name Island Peak is given on 1952 A.D by Erik Shipton’s group who thought it to be evolution of an island in a sea of ice. From the summit of island peak we find the marvelous scenery of Mt.Everest (Highest mountain in world), Mt.Manaslu, Mt.Lothse, Mt.Amadablam, Lobuche Peak,etc and many other unnamed peak. While during trekking you will find Sherpa community village with Tibetan style houses.
Day 01: Arrival, transfer to Hotel.
Day 02: Kathmandu: Sightseeing and Trek Prepration
Day 03: Kathmandu - Lukla [2,800 m/9,184 ft] - Phakding (2,652 m/8,700 ft): 3-4 hrs
Day 04: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,283ft), 5-6 hrs walk
Day 05: Acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar
Day 06: Namche Bazaar to Tsengboche (3,870m/12,694ft): 5 - 6 hrs.
Day 07: Tsengboche to Dingboche (4,360 m/14,300ft):5- 6 hrs.
Day 08: Dingboche to Chhukung
(4,730m/15,518ft): 3-4 hours
Day 09: Acclimatization day: Climb Chhukung Ri (5,546m) 3 – 4 hours
Day 10: Chhukung to Island Peak Base camp (5,200m/17,060ft): 3-4 hours
Day 11: Pre-Climb training on Island Peak Base Camp
Day 12: Island Peak Base Camp to Island Peak Summit (6,189m/20,305ft), back to base camp: 10 hrs
Day 13: Island Peak Base Camp to Pangboche (3,985m/13,074ft) 5-6 hours
Day 14: Pangboche to Namche Bazaar: 4-5 hours
Day 15: Namche Bazaar-Lukla (2,800m/9,186ft): 6-8 hrs
Day 16: Fly back to Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft)
Day 17: Departure from Kathmandu
Which Season is best for this Climbing?
Best Time for Island Peak Climbing is February, March, April (spring) and September, October and November (autumn). In this month the weather is clean. Most of the day is sunny gets more warm and easy for walking. However it can be also done in winter (December-January-February. There is high chance of delay or canceled of Kathmandu – Lukla – Kathmandu during winter and Monsoon season.
What kinds of accommodation we get during this trip?
We provide 3-Star Hotel “Hotel BlissInternational or similar category hotel” in Kathmandu which is in the peaceful street on the edge of Thamel. We provide basic Tea-houses or Local lodge during trekking. Where as we have tent during climbing. All accommodation is in (Twin share basis) for, single supplementary charge ($350) extra.
What sort of meals we get during this trip?
We provide Buffet Breakfast in Kathmandu which is included in the cost. During trekking we provide three meals per day (i.e. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner per day) from the selected menu as per available in lodge and tea house. While climbing our office Sherpa cook will prepare your meals. Normally we eat Nepali, Indian & Tibetan style food. Food during trek is not so well decorated as Kathmandu.
How fit should be trekker for this Climbing?
Island Peak Climbing is strenuous trekking & climbing in Everest Region. It can be done by any age group who has good and fit health & stamina. But, trekkers should have good information about the climbing equipment it is better to have some basic ice-climbing training (like; good knowledge about the use of rope, harness, crampons, etc) and should have an experience about some high trekking so, that they don’t feel altitude sickness. We do not recommending travelers who are suffering from blood pressure or any disease or medical situation before one year. We highly recommend to conceding with doctor before their climbing.
